Full Transcript

As we talk to distributors and manufacturers, we hear one core phrase uttered over and over again.

They say: When it comes to digital, when it comes to eCommerce, when it comes to digital transformation – whatever that means – I just don’t know what I don’t know.

  • I don’t know what to do first. I don’t know what to do second.
  • I don’t know what technology I should evaluate. And even if I knew the technology I wanted to evaluate, I wouldn’t know how to differentiate them from each other.
  • I don’t know what people I should hire. And even if knew the people I should hire, I don’t know how to manage these new people and these new skillsets.

I don’t know what I don’t know.

Does that resonate with you? I hope it does. At the core of “I don’t know what I don’t know” is a knowledge gap. And knowledge gap is created by a people gap.

See, it is really difficult for distributors and manufacturers to be able to hire good, talented eCommerce and digital people. And without those people, we create a knowledge gap. And without that, it creates: I don’t know what I don’t know.
